Commercial real estate industry not excited about a possible Donald Trump presidential candidacy, online poll finds

As New York real estate magnate Donald Trump mulls a run for the Republican presidential nomination, people within his own industry aren’t exactly high on his candidacy, according to one online poll.
GlobeSt.com, a website run by ALM’s Real Estate Media Group that focuses on commercial real estate, asked readers last week whether they would vote for Trump.
As of Monday, two-thirds said they wouldn’t.
With 530 responses so far, 18% chose ‘Yes: He’s savvy and can set us straight,’ and 16% were noncommittal, choosing, ‘I’m intrigued but I want to hear more.’ The remaining respondents chose the third option -- ‘Hell No. It’s just a grab for headlines.’
Trump earned a lot of headlines last week as his focus on whether Barack Obama was born in the United States led the president to release a copy of his long-form birth certificate, which confirmed he was born in Hawaii. Some key Republicans on Sunday criticized Trump for pushing the so-called ‘birther issue.’
The poll will remain open for another week. The site’s readers appear to be evenly split between Democrats and Republicans, although with an anti-Washington bent. An earlier poll asking who was to blame for the near-shutdown of government found 29% blamed Democrats, 23% blamed Republicans -- and 44% blamed ‘the whole damn lot of them.’
In a scientific survey last week, Trump was second in an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll of the potential Republican presidential field.
