On strike eve, looking out for the ‘Scrubs’

If there is a strike, “Scrubs” will be able to produce 12 of its 18 episodes. In it’s seventh and final season, ‘Scrubs’ did not stockpile episodes as did other shows that churned out two and three episodes at a time.

Show creator Bill Lawrence said his main concern was to assign scripts to his youngest writers so that if a strike took place today, they would be able to get at least one script payment.

“It’s a bummer here because we’re trying our darnedest so that our younger writers, who aren’t that highly paid, get their script assignments so they can get paid before it happens. I’m not stockpiling here because that’s counterproductive to what we’re supposed to be accomplishing here.”
