If you’re an American far away in Europe, first pitch of Game 7 of an American League Championship Series can happen at 2:06 a.m.
Last pitch happens sometime between 5 and 6. You might wake at 9 a.m. completely unaware of anything that happened -- a strange, strange feeling in these hyper-information days.
So then, if you see the Tampa Bay Rays have felled the Boston Red Sox, and that the World Series opens in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Wednesday night, and you haven’t seen -- live -- one single October play that led to this apparent truism, it’s just possible, just for one second, to think the whole thing might be some Internet hoax being played upon yourself.
I mean, you’re all kidding, right?
