Hemet is known for hitting triple digits in the summertime, but I didn’t think the West Valley boys’ basketball team could hit that mark. Boy, was I wrong.
The Mustangs rebounded from a tough Sunbelt League loss to Perris on Friday night and defeated Cerritos Gahr at its own game Monday in the featured game of the MLK Classic at Riverside King, winning by the tune of 107-85.
Gahr lives off transition baskets, so it looks as if West Valley guards Eric Lawton and John Balwigaire were on their games.
Since somebody out there considered Gahr to be one of the top 20 teams in the state, this has got to be one of the biggest wins of the season for an Inland Empire team vs. a non-IE team.
And if the Mustangs are really this good, what does that say about Perris?
