Sophomore gives Orange Lutheran 2-1 lead over Mater Dei

In a Trinity League baseball game matching top-ranked Mater Dei and No. 2 Orange Lutheran, the Lancers have taken a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth after sophomore Willie Shaw hit a two-run home run off Mater Dei right-hander Aaron Northcraft.

Mater Dei had moved on top, 1-0, in the fourth on Kevin Francke’s RBI single off Lutheran ace Gerrit Cole.

Cole has struck out six, walked one and allowed three hits in four innings.
