Football: Public schools can compete against private schools

In the Southern Section’s top nine football divisions, only one private school, St. Bonaventure, made it to the championship game.

In the 13 playoff divisions, seven private schools made it to the finals. That shows that public schools can more than hold their own in Southern Section football and might quiet those who sought to separate private and public schools during the playoffs.

Then again, the arguments aren’t going to go away.
