Girls’ basketball: Bell-Jeff brings home a title

SACRAMENTO--For the first time in school history, Bell-Jeff can call itself a state champion.

The girls’ basketball team captured the school’s first state title this evening with a 55-47 victory over Pinewood in the Division V championship at Arco Arena.

Senior guard Shelley Gupilan scored 14 of her 22 points in the second half for the Guards (34-1), who led by as many as 16 points in the third quarter and were never seriously threatened. Junior guard Margeaux Gupilan scored 13 points for Bell-Jeff.
