Verdugo Hills players dumped a bucket of water and ice on Coach Jared Gibson after the Dons’ 65-50 victory over Van Nuys, giving the Dons their first league title in basketball since 1959.
In winning the East Valley League championship, Verdugo Hills (20-7, 11-1) received 19 points from Aragad Abramian, plus 10 points, 16 rebounds and 10 blocks from Chris Dees.
Afterward, Gibson went up a ladder and placed a 2010 championship label on a banner hanging from the gym.
