8 Die in Grenade Blast

MANILA — A grenade exploded in a cockfighting pit in a central Philippine town, killing eight people, including the two soldiers who smuggled it in, the state-run news agency said Thursday. Twelve other people were wounded in the New Year’s Day blast, in Llorente on Samar Island.
