HOUSTON — A 9-year-old boy waiting for a school bus was killed Thursday by a man who grabbed him from a group of friends, burned him with a cigarette and stabbed him with a kitchen knife.
Sean Thomas Smith, a fourth-grade student at Shadow Oaks Elementary School, died of multiple stab wounds, police spokesman J.C. Mosier said. He said that the 25-year-old suspect, who apparently did not know the boy, may have a history of mental problems. Charges were pending.
