A San Diego firefighter was injured Friday afternoon when a condominium unit’s ceiling collapsed as he attempted to fight a blaze caused by a malfunctioning heater unit in a sauna, a Fire Department spokesman said. The fire nearly destroyed the condominium, at 4317 Loma Riviera Court, and caused smoke and heat damage to two adjoining units. Vince Stevenson, 25, was treated at Sharp Cabrillo Hospital for neck injuries and smoke inhalation, the spokesman said. Damage to the units totaled $73,000.
