U.S., Italy to Confer on Organized Crime

ROME — A high-ranking delegation of American law enforcement officals led by Atty. Gen. William French Smith arrived in Rome on Tuesday for talks with Italian officials on organized crime and international drug trafficking.
U.S. Ambassador Maxwell M. Rabb greeted the delegation at Rome’s Fumicino Airport.
The delegation includes FBI Director William H. Webster, Associate Atty. Gen. Stephen Trott, Administrator Francis M. Mullen Jr. of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Commissioner William von Rabb of the Customs Service, and Assistant Treasury Secretary for Enforcement John M. Walker Jr.
Talks with top Italian law enforcement officials led by Interior Minister Oscar Luigi Scalfaro are scheduled to begin today at noon at the Italian Foreign Ministry. They are to conclude Thursday.
