Harvey Stearn, a Mission Viejo Co. executive who was appointed by Gov. George Deukmejian to the California Arts Council last July, has been elected vice chairman of that state agency.
Stearn was the first Orange County resident to be appointed to the council, which dispenses grants to arts organizations and artists. He is a senior vice president of Mission Viejo Co. and a board member of the Orange County Performing Arts Center and Orange County Business Committee for the Arts.
Stephen Goldstine, president of the San Francisco Art Institute, was named president at the council’s annual organizational meeting earlier this month in San Jose.
