Datapower Inc. reported a 98% drop in net income in the third quarter, ended Dec. 31. The dramatic decline was attributed to a change in demand for its products, with a greater percentage of lower-margin products shipped during the quarter.
The Santa Ana-based maker of power supplies for lighting systems and computers reported net income of $5,000 for the third quarter, compared with $48,000 for the same period a year ago. Datapower said earnings for the quarter included an extraordinary credit of $3,000 to reflect a reduction in income taxes due to previous years’ losses.
Net revenues totaled $3.8 million, up 4% from $3.7 million the previous year.
