Viacom acquired 19% of a Japanese cable system.

Viacom International said it acquired the stake in Nippon Cablevision Systems, a privately held Japanese firm that Viacom said was organized last year. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. New York-based Viacom said it has also signed a long-term agreement with Sumitomo Corp. “to develop opportunities in Japan’s emerging cable-television industry.”
