Two Huntington Beach men--neighbors and former schoolmates--were killed in a single-car accident in Westminster late Thursday night, officials said.
Keith Harlan Sharpe, 21, and Michael C. Clauss, 20, were killed when the car Sharpe was driving ran off Bolsa Chica Road and struck a wall, Westminster police Lt. Richard Main said.
The two died at the scene shortly after the 9:48 p.m. accident, Main said. A German shepherd dog in the car with them also was killed.
Main said the car was speeding when it left the road near the intersection of Rancho Road. The accident was under investigation Friday.
Lloyd Clauss, father of one of the victims, said the two had been friends since the Clauss family moved into their Huntington Harbour home eight years ago. Sharpe lived two doors away.
Coroner’s officials said Friday they would conduct autopsies.
