Datatron Inc., a manufacturer of computer software and electronic test systems that is liquidating a subsidiary through bankruptcy proceedings, reported a loss of $385,868 in its fiscal 1985 second quarter, on sharply reduced revenues.
The Garden Grove company’s loss for the period ended Dec. 30 includes $148,264 from the discontinued operations of its Waybern Corp. computer distribution subsidiary, which is being dissolved under Chapter 7 of the federal Bankruptcy Code.
The loss compares with net income of $252,877 for the same period a year earlier; however, that profit included a one-time gain of $600,000 from Datatron’s Dec. 31, 1983, sale of its video editing business. Except for the second quarter 1984, Datatron has not made a profit since fiscal 1980.
Without the extraordinary items, Datatron would have lost $237,599 on operations during the just completed second quarter, and $409,884 in the year-ago quarter.
Datatron’s second-quarter revenues fell 59%, to $274,633 from $671,480. Company officials attributed the decline to the liquidation of Waybern, which had provided the bulk of Datatron’s sales.
