Artukovic Taken to Mo. Prison

Andrija Artukovic, the 85-year-old Seal Beach man who has been ordered extradited to Yugoslavia on murder charges dating from 1942, was flown early this morning to a federal prison hospital in Missouri, federal marshals said.
Artukovic, the minister of the interior in the Nazi-puppet Croatian government during World War II, was taken by federal ambulance plane to Springfield, Mo., where a spokeswoman for the hospital there refused to comment on his condition. The ailing Artukovic suffers heart problems and Alzheimer’s symptoms, and had been under guard in the Long Beach Naval Hospital since shortly after his arrest last November.
