Eagleton Recovering From Heart Attack

WASHINGTON — Sen. Thomas F. Eagleton (D-Mo.) suffered a mild heart attack during the Easter weekend and is recovering at Bethesda Naval Hospital, his office announced today.
Eagleton, 55, who will remain hospitalized for 10 days, plans to kick the smoking habit, his office said. The announcement quoted the senator as saying, “I was a heavy smoker and I emphasize the word was.”
