Search for Agent

The article “Searching for That Ace Agent” by Toni Taylor, April 21, was right on target. Another extremely important point to consider involves penalties. An agent should let you know how much an airline will penalize you if you cancel a special promotional fare less than 30 days ahead of your flight date. The same goes for hotel reservations. Some hotel chains will charge you as much as one full night’s tab if you cancel less than 72 hours ahead of arrival time. Even cruises and ground transportation can hit you with a late cancellation fee. So make it a point to get this information from the travel agent when you make your reservation.
