Angelus League : Bishop Amat Knocks Servite Out of Playoffs

Catcher Carlos Salazar hit a home run and had three RBIs, Friday to lead Bishop Amat to a 6-3 Angelus League win over Servite at Bishop Amat.
The Friar loss, coupled with St. Paul’s, 10-2, win over Bishop Montgomery, drops the Servite into fourth place and out of the playoffs. The Lancers will enter the playoffs as the league’s second place team.
Salazar, a junior, was 2 for 3 in the game. Third baseman Dan Gorman was 2 for 3 with one RBI.
In other Angelus League action:
Mater Dei 20, Pius X 1--The Monarchs scored all their runs in the first four innings during this win at home. Andy Follico was 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs. Follico’s 38 RBIs this season set a school record. Pitcher Jon Hulshof improved his record to 12-1, pitching four innings and striking out four.
The Monarchs received 10 walks. Catcher Mike Kelly (1 for 2) hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning. Second baseman Chris Gill was 2 for 2 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored. Rich Albert was 1 for 2 with a triple and three RBIs. Monarch runners were instructed not to take more than one base on a hit after the fourth inning.
