Garden Grove League : La Quinta Earns 21st Win

La Quinta High School scored 11 in the fourth inning Friday and routed Santiago, 19-3, in a Garden Grove League game at Garden Grove.
The league champion Aztecs set a school record by winning their 21st game of the season.
La Quinta trailed, 2-1, after two innings but took a 7-2 lead by scoring six times in the third. The Aztecs then blew the game open in the fourth, when they sent 16 batters to the plate.
Jim Ingram led La Quinta with three hits, three runs and four RBIs, and teammate Trung Nguyen had three hits, three runs and three RBIs.
Freshman James Marquez (1-0) got the win in relief, and Harvey Cotton took the loss.
Jay Koontz led Santiago by hitting a two-run home run.
In other Garden Grove League action:
Bolsa Grande 4, Rancho Alamitos 3--Back-to-back home runs by Matador catcher Kevin Stiles and right fielder Mike Valdez won the game and clinched third place for Bolsa Grande. Tony Beall (5-2) struck out eight and allowed six hits en route to his second consecutive complete game.
The Vaqueros scored three runs in the first inning. Rancho Alamitos scored its first run when Ron Carter and Scott Jenkins opened the game with back-to-back triples. Jenkins and Tom Tryon later scored on a two-run single by third baseman Dan Wolseleger.
Garden Grove 6, Los Amigos 1--Winning pitcher Keith Mowdy (5-5) threw his ninth complete game of the season as the Argonauts won at home. Mowdy struck out eight and allowed only four hits. Shortstop Mark Keifer got his 25th RBI of the season in the third when he singled home a run.
First baseman Jeff Kanegae got one of his two RBIs with a double in the fourth. Catcher Alex Alvarez was 2 for 3 with a double and three stolen bases.
