I was appalled by “That Was the Week That Was.” The cardinal rule of all humor was violated throughout the show: Play it straight and let the audience decide what is funny. Never nudge viewers in the ribs to tell them what is funny. I had to turn the show off after 20 minutes because everyone was so disgustingly pleased with how supposedly clever they all were. This wasn’t topical humor; it was sophomoric.
