A 19-year-old Poway man was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of drunk driving after his car hit a school bus, sending five children to the hospital with minor injuries.
Kirby Maczko was arrested after his car slammed into the bus after he made a right turn at Camino Del Norte and Pomerado Road, according to a California Highway Patrol spokesman. The bus was standing still in a left-turn lane.
Five of the 10 schoolchildren on board were taken to Pomerado Hospital, where they were treated for minor cuts and bruises. The children, ranging in age from 4 to 9, were bound for classes at Rolling Hills Elementary School.
