Kayakers found the body of a San Diego teen-ager who apparently drowned while fishing in the south fork of the Merced River, the Mariposa County sheriff’s office reported Tuesday.
The body of Jeff Vandeberg, 15, was pulled from the water Sunday night several hundred feet downstream from his fishing pole. He had been camping with his father and a friend when he left camp Saturday to fish, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
