Man Dangling by Fingers Rescued in Tenement Fire

NEW YORK — A man hanging by his fingertips from a flaming fifth-floor window was saved at dawn Tuesday by a fireman who lowered himself by rope from the roof of the six-story tenement.
About 30 persons safely fled the blaze. Seven firefighters were injured battling the fire, which is under investigation.
