Tennis Roundup : Navratilova’s Win Moves Her Into Eastbourne Quarterfinals

Martina Navratilova continued her pre-Wimbledon tuneup Wednesday with a straight-sets victory over Alycia Moulton, 6-1, 7-6, to reach the quarterfinals of the $150,000 women’s grass court championships at Eastbourne, England.
In the quarterfinals, Navratilova will play 14th-seeded Bettina Bunge of West Germany, who beat Dianne Balestrat of Australia, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
Barbara Potter, seeded 13th, came from behind to beat No. 8 Catarina Lindqvist of Sweden in a preview of their first-round meeting at Wimbledon. The 23-year-old American won, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3.
In the quarterfinals, Potter plays fifth-seeded Helena Sukova of Czechoslovakia, who beat unseeded Ann Henricksson, 6-4, 6-1.
In an all-American match of seeded players, No. 12 Kathy Rinaldi ousted No. 7 Kathy Jordan, 7-5, 0-6, 6-4.
Rinaldi will play No. 3 Manuela Maleeva of Bulgaria, who beat unseeded South African Rosalyn Fairbank, 6-4, 6-4.
Australian veteran Wendy Turnbull, seeded 10th, defeated Zina Garrison, seeded sixth, 7-6, 6-4.
Henri Leconte of France and Terry Moor, the top two seeded players, advanced in straight sets in the $117,000 West of England grass court championships at Bristol.
Leconte beat Gianni Ocleppo of Italy, 6-3, 6-2, while Moor defeated The Netherlands’ Huub Van Boeckel, 6-2, 7-6.
Four other seeded players were defeated--No. 10 Tarik Benhabiles of Algeria, No. 11 Hank Pfister, No. 12 Leif Shiras and No. 14 Mike Bauer.
