WEST POINT, Calif. — Scientific experts sifting through piles of bones found at the mountain compound of suspected mass killer Leonard Lake have discovered the remains of three more victims, bringing the death count to at least nine, detectives said Wednesday.
Lake and his suspected accomplice, Charles Ng, have been linked to 19 missing people and three known murder victims. Lake committed suicide, apparently by poison, after his June 2 arrest. Ng is a fugitive.
The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department said forensic experts, piecing together bones and bone fragments, determined the existence of the three new victims, apparently a child, a man and a person whose sex was not specified.
