Horn & Hardart dropped its bid for Diversifoods.

In a two-sentence statement, Horn & Hardart, a food service and mail-order company based in Las Vegas, offered no reason for its decision. But Diversifoods, a restaurant management concern, has accepted a rival $387.6-million bid from Pillsbury. A Horn & Hardart affiliate, Jesart Partners, had gone to court to challenge Pillsbury’s tender offer for Diversifoods, but the judge ruled against Jesart last week.
