THE GREAT BOOK DEBATE
Because of the preponderance of negative letters published in Calendar Letters, I fear that The Times may discontinue the Book Review section because so few write in its defense.
No doubt, most persons who seek out the Book Review above all other sections of the Sunday paper don’t read Calendar, thinking it is just there to protect the important portion of the paper. They may not know that letters published indicate that Book Review readers are few.
Personally, I don’t read much more than the letters in the Calendar. The articles are too long, and I get a lot of ink on my hands from all those pages of advertising. But I do read the Book Review from cover to cover and would be desolate if it should be discontinued.
