Seven 55-gallon barrels of the hazardous solvent trichloroethane were discovered behind a Commerce industrial plant by sheriff’s deputies on routine patrol. Sheriff’s spokesman Mike Ford said the drums were being stored illegally behind the Sweco Corp. at 6021 Bandini Blvd. Another 50 containers stored there were empty. Hazardous materials teams from the Sheriff’s Department, the county Fire Department and the county Department of Health Services responded and the company was asked to move the containers into its warehouse. Ford said he did not know if criminal charges would be sought.
