The Rancho Palos Verdes City Council increased PV Transit summer fares to $1 per one-way ride to offset increased costs. Fares had been 75 cents and $1 during peak hours.
PV Transit is a dial-a-van program operated by Rancho Palos Verdes that also serves Palos Verdes Estates and Rolling Hills Estates.
PV Transit operating costs have increased 38% since last year, said Rancho Palos Verdes City Manager Donald Guluzzy. Summer costs are higher because school children are not using the system as much.
The council will examine raising fall fares at its first August meeting.
