A 3-year-old San Diego girl was killed Thursday after being thrown from the family car as it spun out of control on a Mexican road near the international border.
After the accident, Erika Gayton, of the 3200 block of Caminito Quixote, was found pinned beneath the vehicle. Erika and her parents, Esther and Juan Gayton, were taken to the border where a Life Flight helicopter ambulance waited. Erika died at Sharp Memorial Hospital at about 2 p.m.
