An Alpine man died in a traffic accident shortly after midnight Thursday when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
Officials said that James Kerrick, 63, may have suffered a heart attack before his car left Harbison Canyon Road, near the intersection of St. George Road, east of El Cajon.
Kerrick was taken to El Cajon Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
