NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced Tuesday that investigators have found evidence of dangerous levels of highly toxic dioxin at yet another dump site in the Niagara Falls area.
The EPA said that at the 102nd Street chemical dump, along the Niagara River, some soil samples contained dioxin at levels 200 times greater than is considered safe for inhabited areas, but the EPA noted that the old dump is fenced to keep people out.
Dioxin has also been detected through the years at other old chemical dumps around Niagara Falls, including Love Canal.
