7-Eleven Clerk Killed by Robber

A 38-year-old clerk at a Van Nuys convenience store was shot and killed by a robber who fled without taking any money, police said today.
Officer Terri Reitz said Vijay Shankar Roy was working at the 7-Eleven store at 16056 Sherman Way when a man entered at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday night waving a gun and demanding money. Reitz said the man shot Roy once in the chest while Roy was reaching into the cash drawer. Roy was pronounced dead on arrival at the Valley Hospital Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
