Sexual abuse damages children’s spirits and produces chaotic adult personalities without direction, Dr. Robert ten Bensel of the University of Minnesota told more than 300 judges, psychologists, probation officers and other professionals of juvenile court systems attending a three-day conference of the National Institute on Child Sexual Abuse in Kansas City. Ten Bensel, director of a university maternal and child health program, demonstrated that the problem is nothing new by showing slides of child pornography 100 years ago.
