WASHINGTON — The Soviet Union and Intelsat, the multinational satellite communications consortium, have signed an agreement to exchange operational, technical and financial information, Intelsat said today.
Intelsat said the memorandum of agreement was being studied by State and Commerce Department officials to see if it contained needed safeguards to prevent the transfer of sensitive U.S. technical information to the Soviet Union. Intelsat (International Telecommunications Satellite Organization) is a nonprofit cooperative for world transmission of telephone, television and data services.
