Klein Wrong?

In the Aug. 28 edition, I was appalled to read in Virginia Doody Klein’s column, Living With Divorce, her answer to a hurting grandmother who would like to have her daughter’s baby. It’s the grandmother’s only daughter, and it doesn’t look like she will ever have another grandchild from this daughter.
Klein tells her to seek counsel with her clergyman. What Klein doesn’t know, because she doesn’t have the feeling that a grandmother does, is that this grandmother does have a good chance of getting that child.
Our group of California grandparents, organized late last year, consists of some 700 grandparents seeking a revision of the AB300 Grandparent Visitation law. Klein is for the birds in saying, “How would you explain the adoption and mother’s constant presence?” Come out in the open with it. Why hide anything? That grandchild will get more love than many other children get because she is wanted so badly by this grandmother.
