Free Concert Set to Welcome Previn

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Assn. has announced a free “Welcome Previn” concert in the Pavilion of the Music Center at 8 p.m. Oct. 12.
“This concert provides a wonderful opportunity for the board of directors of the Philharmonic Assn. to invite the community to join us in welcoming our distinguished new music director, Andre Previn,” said Rocco Siciliano, chairman of the board.
To obtain two tickets to the concert, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Welcome Previn Concert, 135 N. Grand Ave., Los Angeles, 90012. Tickets are limited and will be allocated in the order requests are received.
The program for this concert: Glinka’s Overture, “Russlan and Ludmilla,” Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain,” Tchaikovsky’s Overture-Fantasy, “Romeo and Juliet” and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5.
The 1985-86 season of the Philharmonic opens Oct. 10.
