CLEAN ROCK
All this talk about cleaning up rock music is starting to make me mad. And this William “We Have the Power” Steding guy--who died and left him in charge (Pop Eye, “Rock’s New Sticker War,” by Patrick Goldstein, Sept. 8)?
I grew up listening to rock. My parents never once had to exercise any control over the music I chose to listen to.
Now, I may be unemployed, but I’m not such a bad kid. I am not a drug addict, I have never killed anyone, I have never been involved in any deviant or illegal sexual behavior and, contrary to popular belief, I am not a devil-worshiper.
I don’t know. Maybe the reason I turned out OK is because my Mom and Pop, not some guy in Dallas or a bunch of Washington housewives, gave me the freedom to make my own decisions.
