Authorities said they believe that 8-year-old Tiffanie Jean Odell was kidnaped from the street in Carson last week. Relatives, teachers and school friends were questioned last Wednesday after the girl disappeared while walking the seven blocks from the Broad Avenue Elementary School to her home in the 700 block of Sepulveda Boulevard. Los Angeles Sheriff’s Detective Gary Bontrager said the possibility that she might have been spirited away as a part of a custody dispute between her father and mother, who are divorced, has been ruled out. A door-to-door search of a 50-block area around her home failed to turn up any clues, Bontrager said, adding: “If she had just run away, I think she would have turned up by now.”
