VLI Corp. of Irvine said Tuesday it will begin marketing its vaginal contraceptive sponge in Sweden and Norway this month.
This introduction of the Today sponge brings to four the number of European countries where the product is available. The sponge is already sold in Great Britain and Switzerland. It has been available in the United States since June 1983.
The latest two introductions are part of a continuing effort by VLI to distribute its vaginal contraceptive in Europe. The company plans distribution in other European countries this year and in 1986. It is also actively seeking approval for its product in several countries in the Pacific Basin and Southeast Asia.
