U.S. Military Services Grow by 1,546 in August

WASHINGTON — A recent spurt in active-duty strength of the nation’s military services slowed in August but still increased by more than 1,500 individuals, compared to the previous month, the Pentagon said Tuesday.
The combined strength of the military stood at 2,157,456 on Aug. 31, up 1,546 from July 31. The total represents an increase of more than 13,600, compared to the same period last year.
