Eastern Airlines named Jose Smith senior vice president-sales and services, a new position, with responsibility for ground operations at more than 100 airports in the United States, Canada and Bermuda, and Edward F. Upton, vice president-operations services, responsible for engineering and maintenance. Other appointments: Jerry E. Losness, vice president and controller-financial operations; Donald P. Martin, senior vice president-operational coordination, a new post, responsible for Eastern’s system operation center and coordination of daily operations, and Kevin Cooper, vice president-base maintenance at Eastern’s Miami headquarters.
