LONDON — “Evita,” the musical about Eva Peron, wife of the late Argentine dictator Juan Peron, will close Feb. 8 after giving its 2,904th London performance, its publicists announced.
The Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice musical opened at London’s Prince Edward Theater on June 21, 1978. It will be the second longest-running musical in London stage history behind “Jesus Christ Superstar,” an earlier Lloyd Webber/Rice collaboration that played 3,357 performances.
