Benjamin Signs Four-Year Clipper Contract

Center Benoit Benjamin, the Clippers’ first-round draft choice, signed a four-year contract worth slightly less than $800,000 a year Thursday afternoon in New York and was scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles last night.
Carl Scheer, the Clippers’ general manager, said Benjamin will probably join the team in workouts at Cal Poly Pomona today.
The Clippers also said they had acquired guard Ray Williams from the Boston Celtics for unspecified draft choices.
