The Brotherhood Crusade launched its own campaign among the Los Angeles black community to help victims of the Mexico City earthquakes with a donation of $5,000, and Brotherhood President Danny Bakewell said he hoped to raise a total of $50,000. Bakewell said the campaign would focus on furnishing medical supplies and blankets, which are desperately needed in the Mexican capital and other towns hit by the quake. Donations of money, medicines or blankets will be accepted at the Crusade’s office, 200 E. Slauson Ave.
