Permits for Building in County Rise

The county Building and Safety Division issued 2,741 building permits valued at $186,532,860 during August, more than either the 2,731 permits valued at $128,984,220 issued during July or the 2,319 valued at $120,273,450 during August, 1984.
The total for the first eight months of this year is 18,855 permits valued at $l,034,647,800, compared to 18,874 permits valued at $937,682,170 in the first eight months of 1984. This year, 1,508 permits valued at $99,374,410 were issued in unincorporated areas and 1,233 valued at $87,158,450 in the 26 cities served by the county office.
Thirty-six permits issued in August of this year exceeded $500,000 in valuation; 23 were for industrial or commercial buildings and the remainder for a variety of uses. The largest permit, valued at $12 million, was for a county court house in Bellflower.
