Children Aboard
The articles on cruise ships in the Sept. 15 section made good reading, but I was disappointed that no one mentioned facilities for children on aboard ship. As a child I spent weeks traveling on ocean liners, in transatlantic crossings that lasted anywhere from five days (the France) to 28 days (the Masdaam). When we were very young my sisters and I spent much of the time in the well-staffed nurseries and playrooms; in later years we were free to amuse ourselves for days on end. My parents agree that an ocean liner provides an ideal means of transporting and traveling with children. Are these lovely new one-class ships still willing to take on children, or is this a thing of the past?
